XP to 7 or Vista Business to 7?
By
My UX came with a free Vista business upgrade. I’ve heard SP1 clears out at least most of the bugs Vista had. I also heard that Windows 7 is easier to upgrade to if you already have Vista on board. So, should I put Vista back on, or just go from XP to 7? IMPORTANT: I have obtained ALL special utility drivers (audio, camera, touch panel, etc). They are Vista specific and I was told they may not work with Windows 7. I also plan to REIMAGE XP BACK TO FACTORY DEFAULTS and BACK IT UP to a CD or DVD BEFORE proceeding any further. One thing I forgot to put in the video is that I would like to test this on true PC hardware (most people in the budget computer sector wouldn’t buy a Mac just to run Windows on it), and the UX is the closest thing I have to authentic PC hardware.

vista to 7 seeing …
vista to 7 seeing as 7 has the same kind of build as vista so you would have no driver issues.

XP to 7 for sure. …
XP to 7 for sure. Vista is a huge pain. I don’t think 7 will be perfect, but it’s beta is WORLDS better than vista. Vista is ALL flash, and little reliable functionality.

Nothing of value is …
Nothing of value is on the system, as it is not my primary system. I have the Vista drivers but someone suggested that it was easier install Vista first, then 7. I plan to restore the machine to factory defaults, and backing up those factory defaults to disc, before installing Vista or 7.

You cannot upgrade …
You cannot upgrade from XP to Windows 7!
The best thing to do is a clean install and let Windows 7 to automatically download its drivers from the Internet! If by any chance it doesn’t detect all the hardware in your PC you can install Vista drivers.
All my Vista drivers worked on Win7. If the driver detects the wrong OS and doesn’t want to install use compatibility mode!
If you want to keep your files/settings use Windows Easy Transfer.

Just a quick …
Just a quick question. If I were to go from XP to Vista, and then install the Vista drivers, and keep all the files (upgrade) to 7, would those Vista drivers carry over u think?

I think the best …
I think the best way to go just is installing windows vista and then upgrading to 7, even though there’s no need to install the sp1 update I recommend you do it.
Theoretically upgrading xp to 7 should work fine as well, but when I tried to do it, it required me to “erase the disk” or to make a complete install I couldn’t upgrade it without loosing any information. So make backups just in case. xD
