How do the rich get richer and the poor get poorer in America?

By admin

I am taking an economics class and I am interested in how poverty increases while people who are educated is increasing.

Both "the poor" and "the rich" are increasingly better off . Take a look at what it means to be "poor" today http://www.heritage.org/Research/Reports/2011/07/What-is-Poverty

Most people 50 years ago would have been envious of what "the poor" have today.

In short – the rich can afford to lobby Congress so they get big juicy tax breaks – they get government grants for their projects, they get government handouts and welfare if they get into financial trouble. It’s amazing – once you get a certain amount of money, you’re no longer just a human – you’re a Super Human and the republicans begin to worship you.

Take a look at the difference in what people paid in taxes when Eisenhower was president – and what they pay now. The rich used to pay a lot of dough – they pay nothing now – and get republican tax breaks.

It’s very dangerous to our republic to let people get as rich as these people have gotten…. but obviously the republicans don’t think so – they’d give the whole country to them if they could.

The poor do not get poorer, as far as I know. I’m pretty sure the "poor" today are materially better off than the poor of decades past. They’re certainly fatter and seem to have money to waste on lottery tickets.

You should pay attention in Economics class and learn something, rather than brainlessly repeat trite sayings.

It is natural. It was realized by Karl Marx already. The small fish are eating out by the big fish. Now in America, not only the big fish, but the speedy fish get involved.People are not equally educated. There are always people at the bottom of decile or society.if the growth is slow, not all educated people will get decent jobs.45 million people are living without health insurance.People will get poorer when they get sick.
