i thought u were suppose to get rich off of stock…and owning pieces of companies…confused…?
ByOk here I am thinking u actually make money off of owning some stock…
Maybe I’m confused about the whole dividend aspect of things…and companies paying u like $0.38. Cents…or like 3 dollars. I’m thinking its suppose to be like thousands…or hundreds at least. But change…or just a few bucks. I’m confused.
How do people really get money from stocks…
Do u Sale them to get a lot more money?
How are u suppose to get rich off of a few cents being saved each year?
Help please…lol ![]()
Let’s take JP Morgan as an example.

Their dividend yield is $0.20/share. That means that for every share of JPM that you own on the ex-dividend date that you will receive 20 cents per share. There are companies that give you more, less, or no dividend at all. Dividends provide you with a steady source of cash flows but I do not know anybody who actually makes enough money to sustain themselves on dividends.
You make money on stocks buy buying them when the price is low and selling them when the price is high. Lets say company A is trading at $10 and you buy 100 shares. For every dollar that company goes up you make $100 (1 x 100). So if you sell the shares of Company A at $20 you will make $1,000 dollars (before commission).
